Did you know that more than 1 in 3 American adults has prediabetes, and most don’t even know it? Prediabetes means your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. The good news is: type 2 diabetes can often be prevented or delayed with the right support.
That’s where our Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) comes in.
Who is eligible?
You may qualify if you:
- Have been diagnosed with prediabetes or are at risk for developing diabetes
- Have a recent A1c between 5.7% and 6.4% or a fasting glucose of 100-125mg/dL
- Are overweight or obese
- Have a history of gestational diabetes
- Simply want to take proactive steps to improve your health
If you’re unsure, ask your provider as many patients qualify and don’t realize it.
What the program entails
Our Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long, lifestyle-focused class series designed to help you build healthier habits that last. Classes are held virtually for your convenience and offered multiple times a week, so you can find a schedule that works best for you. Most insurance companies cover the cost of the class completely.
In the program, you will:
- Learn strategies for healthy eating that work in real life – not strict diets
- Build an activity plan that fits your lifestyle and preferences
- Get tools for stress management, sleep improvement, and staying motivated
- Work with a lifestyle coach who guides and supports you every step of the way
- Connect with a supportive group of peers working toward similar goals
How it Benefits You
Research shows that people who participate in a structured diabetes prevention program can reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by more than 50%. In addition to lowering your risk for diabetes, many participants also experience:
- Weight loss that is steady and sustainable
- Lower blood pressure and cholesterol
- More energy for daily activities
- A stronger sense of confidence and control over their health
This is not just about preventing diabetes, but about helping you live your healthiest, fullest life.
